RCMP charge man with drug offences following impaired driving investigation

Queens District RCMP has charged a man with drug related offences following an impaired driving investigation in York.

On September 10, 2022, Queens District RCMP responded to a complaint of an impaired driver in York. Police located the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle and, determined that he was impaired. A quantity of what is believed to be cocaine was also seized. The driver was charged with impaired operation.

On January 16, 2023, the driver was convicted and received a sentence of 5 days in custody and a $2,600 fine.

As the original investigation relating to the cocaine seizure continued, additional evidence was gathered by police resulting in the laying of a new charge for Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. The accused will appear in Charlottetown Provincial Court on February 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
