Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

Drugs, cash and stolen property were located and seized following the execution of a search warrant by the RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West (JFO West) yesterday at a Corner Brook residence. Twenty-five-year-old Kyle Squires of Deer Lake, who was among those arrested inside the home, attends court today.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, JFO West executed the search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on January 19, 2023, at residence on Walsh Street. Three individuals inside, including Squires, were arrested. Located and seized from inside the home was a quantity of cocaine, cash, and other items consistent with drug trafficking. In addition, police located a large amount of suspected stolen property.

Squires, who was in breach of conditions of his release order, was held in custody and attends court today. He is charged with three counts of breaching conditions of a court release order.

The remaining two individuals were released from custody and are each set to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The investigation is continuing.

JFO West, which includes dedicated police officers from both the RCMP and RNC, targets drug trafficking and organized crime on the west coast of the province.
