Twenty-eight-year-old Christian Woodford of Clarkes Beach was arrested by RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West (JFO West) in Deer Lake last week and remains in custody. A large amount of cash was located after the execution of a search warrant in Deer Lake.
On January 5, 2023, following Woodford's arrest, police obtained a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for a hotel room in Deer Lake, occupied by Woodford. A large sum of cash, which police believe is proceeds of crime, was located. Woodford, who is currently before the court on a number of criminal charges, including conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance and a number of other drug possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking charges, was found in breach of a number of conditions of his release order.
He attended court on Friday and is charged with three counts of breaching conditions of a court release order. Woodford was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is set for Thursday, January 12, 2023, in Corner Brook.
The investigation into the money seized is continuing at this time.
JFO West, which includes dedicated police officers from both the RCMP and RNC, targets drug trafficking and organized crime on the west coast of the province.
