Western Albert District Crime Reduction Unit arrest multi-jurisdictional property crime offender

On Jan. 11, 2023, members of the Western Albert District Crime Reduction Unit were made aware of a Dodge Nitro that had been stolen in Fort St. John, B.C. and was used in the commission of break and enters in the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, B.C. areas the night before, including the theft of an ATM.

While making patrols, officers located a Dodge Nitro parked at a local motel. After conducting checks, officers determined that the Nitro was in fact the same stolen Dodge Nitro from Fort St. John. A search of the vehicle revealed some items believed to have been stolen from the previous break and enter as well as a receipt indicating what room the suspect was in. Officers attended the motel room and arrested the suspect who was found to be wearing the same clothes as during the break ins.

A search warrant was obtained. The search of the motel and vehicle resulted in the seizure of:

  • Canadian Currency
  • A large quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl
  • American Currency
  • Thirty assorted gift cards

Corbyn John Hubley (28), of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (x4)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x4)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Fraudulent Concealment

The 28-year-old individual was taken before a justice and has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for Jan. 16, 2023, at Grande Prairie provincial court.

The 28-year-old individual has been an active offender in Northern Alberta and B.C.:

  • On Dec. 10, 2022, the 28-year-old individual was charged with Theft over $5000 and Breaking and Entering to a commercial business in Grande Prairie. He was taken before a justice of the peace and released for Jan. 16, 2023, at Grande Prairie provincial court.
  • On Dec. 17, 2022, the 28-year-old individual was located in a stolen vehicle and charged with Possession of stolen property in Hinton, Alta. He was released for court on Feb. 1, 2023 at Hinton provincial court.
