Woman arrested by Bay St. George RCMP following stabbing in Stephenville, charges laid

Thirty-year-old Kayla Rose-Leader was arrested by Bay St. George RCMP on March 27, 2023, following a stabbing that occurred in Stephenville earlier that evening.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Monday, police received a call for service from the residence and attended the home. Officers learned that a woman forced her way into the house and refused to leave. An altercation took place outside of the home resulting in the stabbing of one woman and an attempted theft of a vehicle.

Rose-Leader, who was identified by the victim, was located a short time later outside a business and was in possession of an edged weapon. She was arrested without further incident and was taken into custody. The victim of the assault was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Rose-Leader attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Break and enter into a residence
  • Failing to comply with a court release order – three counts

The investigation is ongoing.
