Cumberland County District RCMP investigate fatal crash

Cumberland County District RCMP is investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Mapleton.

On April 22, at approximately 1:49 p.m., Cumberland County District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Hwy. 2. Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a beige Toyota Tacoma was travelling on the highway
when it left the roadway, hit a power pole and came to rest overturned in the ditch.

The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 71-year-old Southampton man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation remains ongoing and is being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
