Reporting suspicious activity

In order to protect our communities, the RCMP is always on the lookout for suspicious activity. You can help keep your community safe by reporting suspicious activity to police or Crime Stoppers.

What is suspicious activity?

Suspicious activity suggests something criminal has happened, is happening or will happen. Sometimes there are clues that someone is a victim and other times there are clues that someone has committed, is committing or intends to commit a crime.

Some examples include:

  • signs of intimate partner violence/abuse
  • yelling or screaming
  • threats or comments about committing a crime
  • being forced into a vehicle
  • the sound of breaking glass
  • obsession with people or organizations beyond a hobby or professional interest
  • peering into homes or vehicles
  • items in unusual places (ie. an unattended car parked in the same place over a period of time)

We all want our communities to be safe places. If your gut is telling you something's suspicious, please call 1-800-803-RCMP outside the Halifax region or 902-490-5020 within the Halifax region. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.
