Carmacks man arrested for setting traps on local trail

On July 5th, 2020, the Carmacks RCMP were notified that a series of improvised 'traps' were set on a trail behind Guder Drive that is commonly used by recreational vehicles, hikers, dog walkers and children. Officers attended and discovered saw blades, nails and boards with screws driven through them hiding in the dirt and cable wire stretched across the trail between trees.

An investigation was conducted and on July 16th, 2020, Darcy Moi, a 37-year-old man from Carmacks, was arrested and charged with the following under the Criminal Code:

  • One count of Setting Traps Likely to Cause Bodily Harm;
  • Two counts of Mischief.

Mr. Moi was released on an undertaking and will appear in court on September 2nd, 2020.
