On Oct. 22, 2020, Cst. Matthew Howson was charged with Criminal Harassment, Intimidation of a Crown Witness, and Breach of an Undertaking. These charges stem from allegations of ongoing harassment of witnesses to the original 2019 incident where Cst. Howson entered into an altercation with another member of the public at his residence.
Cst. Howson will appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Nov. 4, 2020. He remains suspended with pay while the criminal process proceeds. Once charges have been resolved, his duty status will again be reviewed.
