Canavoy, Prince Edward Island

News release

On Wednesday, June 18, just after 7:30 p.m., an RCMP officer was on patrol in Canavoy, on Route 2 when they encountered an oncoming vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The radar registered the speed at 160 km/hour in a 90 km/hour zone.

The 19 year-old Kings County woman was charged with speeding over 70 km/hour and her vehicle was seized.

RCMP will continue to fine drivers and seize cars of those who do not respect the speed limits. Many releases have been issued of late of excessive speeding which could easily be a factor in a collision which could take the life of those in the speeding vehicle and sadly take lives of innocent drivers, cyclist, or pedestrians. Travelling at such high rates of speed means that drivers reaction and vehicle response will not be what is expected and very dangerous.
