Hammonds Plains man facing firearms charges

Yesterday, Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of shots fired in a residential neighbourhood in Hammonds Plains.

On December 29 at approximately 7:50 a.m. police responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the Skye Cres. area. While police were responding they heard another shot and were able to determine its originating location.

Police arrested a man outside a residence with a firearm. The man advised he was shooting to scare racoons off the roof.

A 70-year-old Hammonds Plains man was arrested for Carless Use of a Firearm and a number of firearms were seized from the residence. The man was released from custody on conditions to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date.
