Man charged with drug trafficking and firearm offences

A 22-year-old Shediac man has been arrested and charged in connection with an ongoing investigation into the production and trafficking of illegal drugs.

On September 16, 2020, members of the Shediac RCMP, along with members of the Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a home on Beauséjour Road, in Shediac. During the search, police seized quantities of drugs believed to be cocaine, cannabis marijuana, and psilocybin mushrooms, as well as two restricted firearms, ammunition, and various paraphernalia used in the production of illegal drugs.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

On September 17, Justin Gallant appeared in court by way of a tele-remand and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine.

On September 21, Justin Gallant was also charged with two counts of possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, and two counts of possession of a restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition, without a licence.

He appeared in court for a bail hearing on September 25, and was released on conditions. He is scheduled to return to Moncton Provincial Court on October 21 at 1:30 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
