RCMP and RNC Traffic Units lay over 80 charges and seize seven vehicles

On the afternoon of October 6, 2020, RCMP Traffic Services East and RNC Traffic Services teamed up on the Trans-Canada Highway at Butterpot Park for a joint enforcement initiative. Officers laid over 80 charges consisting of speeding, registration, and insurance violations.

Police charged six excessive speeders whose speeds ranged between 151 km/h and 173 km/h. All were given $520 tickets, their vehicles were impounded and driver's licenses suspended. One other driver was found operating a vehicle without insurance, resulting in a $2600 ticket and the vehicle impounded. Drivers who had their vehicles impounded will be responsible to pay the associated tow and impound fees.
