Update to Firearms Incident of May 22nd

Kings District RCMP received a call of shots fired in the St. Marys Road area just after midnight Friday, May 22.

Officers from both Kings and Queens Districts along with the Police Dog Service and a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV/drone) officer attended the scene and secured the area. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) was notified and were en route when the male involved was noticed on the property and was arrested safely and taken into custody.

As a result, 37 year-old Christopher Kevin Jamieson, of Kings County has been charged with a number of firearms offences, including: possession of a firearm while prohibited; reckless discharge of a firearm; possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes; and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Mr. Jamieson reportedly discharged upwards of 40 rounds of ammunition during the situation.

He was held in remand over the weekend and will appear in Provincial Court in Charlottetown, today, Monday, May 25.
