RCMP arrest Meat Cove man wanted for firearms offences

Nova Scotia RCMP have arrested a 34-year-old man from Meat Cove after an extensive search of the area.

On January 20, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 34-year-old man from Meat Cove was arrested without further incident. Members of the RCMP, including the Emergency Response Team, Air Services and general duty, had been in Meat Cove to execute an arrest warrant for a man wanted for firearm related offences. The man fled into the woods with a gun, which the RCMP later found.

The man will be transported to Sydney Provincial Court where he will appear in relation to a number of outstanding warrants. The man will face additional charges related to firearms offences.

In relation to this incident, the RCMP has arrested a 49-year-old man from Meat Cove as part of an obstruction of justice investigation. The man has been released from custody.
