Bay St. George RCMP investigates rash of break and enters in Stephenville

Bay St. George RCMP is investigating a number of break and enters that have occurred in Stephenville within the past three months.

Twenty break and enters have been reported between August-October of 2022, all of which occurred within Stephenville and specifically in the areas of the Hansen Highway, Queen Street, Gallant Street, Glendale Street and Main Street. In one of those cases, a home was occupied when the break and enter occurred. The crimes are being committed during the later evening and/or early morning hours. Although arrests have been made, police are continuing to receive reports of break and enters.


Bay St. George RCMP encourages residents to secure their properties, especially while away. Please consider the following options:

  • Bolster your security measures (deadbolts, window stops, etc)
  • Increase outdoor lighting (smart/timed lighting)
  • Have neighbours or friends check/empty your mail boxes
  • Mow your lawn/maintain your property before you leave
  • Install surveillance cameras
  • Never advertise that you'll be away from your home, especially on social media
