On February 27, 2022, at approximately 3:30 am, RCMP responded to a break and enter at a residence on 7th Avenue NW in Portage la Prairie.
Officers immediately attended and located the suspect in the backyard of the residence. The male was told he was under arrest, but refused to stop and took off on foot. As the suspect was evading police he broke into a neighboring residence. Officers contained the area and Police Service Dog Jolt, tracked the suspect who was hiding in a garage. After a short confrontation the male was arrested.
Wyatt Martin-French, 19, has been charged with;

Mischief
Resisting Arrest
Forcible Entry
Unlawfully in a Dwelling
He was remanded into custody.
