35-year-old Ben Bedore of Halbrite, SK, has been charged with the following offences in relation to an ongoing investigation and search warrant carried out by Weyburn RCMP in Halbrite on August 2, 2022:

  • Unsafe Storage of Firearms – Section 86(2) of the Criminal Code.
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(3) of the Criminal Code.
  • Obstruction of a Justice System Participant – Section 139(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer – Section 129 of the Criminal Code.

Bedore will make his first appearance in Weyburn Provincial Court on October 11, 2022.

Weyburn RCMP: Search warrant executed in Halbrite earlier today in relation to ongoing investigation

Weyburn RCMP ­would like to advise the residents of Halbrite, SK, that there was an increased police presence in the community earlier today (Tuesday, August 2) due to the execution of a search warrant at a residence. The search was in relation to an ongoing investigation. As police entered the residence subject to the warrant, an adult male fled on foot. Police resources, including the Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services unit, searched Halbrite for the male. He was apprehended without incident a short time after fleeing and was taken into police custody. At no time during the police operation did investigators believe there to be a risk to public safety. The male was released and the investigation remains ongoing.
