News release

Following the report of a disturbance at a home in Spaniard's Bay, 38-year-old Tommy Dove is charged with a number of criminal offences, including assaulting a police officer.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Bay Roberts RCMP were called to a residential disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located two men outside the home. One man reported that he was assaulted by Dove, who was intoxicated. At the time, the victim wanted Dove removed from his property. Officers provided Dove with a ride home but found him moments later walking down the road attempting to return to the victim's property. To prevent further crime, police arrested Dove for being intoxicated in a public place and transported him to the detachment to be lodged for the night. Dove resisted arrest, uttered threats and assaulted an officer while in custody.

He attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Assault
  • Resisting arrest
  • Uttering threats
  • Assaulting a police officer

The investigation is continuing.
