Dauphin RCMP vehicle stop leads to arrests and seizure of loaded firearms

Firearms seized

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 12:30 am, Dauphin RCMP on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Main Street South, in Dauphin.

Two adults and four children were inside the vehicle. During the stop an officer observed a firearm and immediately placed the two adults under arrest.

Officers searched the vehicle and two loaded firearms were seized.

A 32-year-old female from Ste. Rose du Lac is facing charges of:

Possession of Firearm with tampered serial number
Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
Unsafe Storage of Firearms
Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without a licence

She was also issued three fines under the Highway Traffic Act for Driving without a Licence, Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle and Carry Liquor in Vehicle Contrary to the Act. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

A 24-year-old male from the RM of Ethelbert has been charged with:

Possession of Firearm with tampered serial number
Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
Unsafe Storage of Firearms
Possession of a Restricted Firearm/Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without a licence

He was also issued two fines under the Highway Traffic Act for Unlawful Transportation of Cannabis in a Vehicle and Carry Liquor in Vehicle Contrary to the Act.
He was remanded into custody.

The children were taken to a safe environment.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
