RCMP charge two youth in homicide

December 21, 2023, Charlottetown – Two youth appeared in Charlottetown Provincial Court yesterday to answer to homicide related charges.

The two youth had been arrested the previous day December 19, in connection to a missing persons file police had been investigating since December 15. Police had been engaged in extensive searches of areas in Kings County involving over 60 resources. After the arrests police located human remains in the area of Milltown Cross. The identity of the human remains has not yet been confirmed as police work with the Provincial Coroner to make the identification.

A publication ban has been issued preventing the release of information that could identify the victim as well as the two accused in this case. Both have been remanded into custody, one will appear on December 27 and the other January 18in Charlottetown Provincial Court.

Accessory after the fact 23cc
Public Mischief 140(1)cc
Obstruction of Peace Officer 129(a)cc

This investigation is ongoing, and Kings County residents might see a continued strong police presence as RCMP continue their investigation. There are no further searches planned at this time and there are no further suspects in this investigation.
