On November 19, 2023, at approximately 7:45 pm, RCMP responded to a robbery at a business on Mystery Lake Road, in Thompson.

A male suspect entered the business, stole several items, and when he was confronted by security he pulled out a screwdriver and threatened the employees. He then fled the scene.

A description was obtained and officers on patrol located the male outside another business nearby. The officer told the male suspect he was under arrest and to stop, however the suspect refused to comply and kept walking. The officer observed a screwdriver sticking out of the suspects sleeve, and continued to give the male commands, which he ignored. A Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed and the male was safely taken into custody.

Craig Francois, 24, of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Robbery.

He was remanded into custody.
