On May 21, 2023, at approximately 9:45 pm, Virden RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 3, just east of Road 162 West. When officers arrived on scene, they saw a car flipped over inside the fenceline of the property adjacent to the highway.
Initial investigation determined that the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 3 at a high rate of speed when it lost control and rolled several times, going through a fence and landing on its roof. The 19-year-old male driver from Brandon, and lone occupant of the car, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He received emergency medical treatment, but was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of a RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
