Prince District RCMP looking for public’s help to solve two suspicious fires on Sunday

April 21, 2024, Freetown – Emergency Services responded to a house fire at an abandoned house in Freetown on Sunday, and while there, a second fire at another abandoned house in Lower Freetown was discovered. Police are asking the public for any information in connection to these fires.

On April 21st at 1:00 p.m. Prince district RCMP responded to a fire at an abandoned house on Route 8 in Freetown. The building was completely destroyed.

While on the scene of this fire, police and fire responders were called to a second abandoned house fire on Route 110 in Lower Freetown at 1:15 p.m. Fire officials were able to quickly put this second fire out.

No one was injured at these fires; the Provincial Fire Marshall attended the scenes and the fires have been deemed suspicious in nature. Police are asking anyone with information about these two fires to contact the East Prince RCMP at 902-436-9300 or call PEI Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

The Borden, Crapaud, New London, Kinkora and Kensington Fire Departments all responded to these fires. Route 8 was closed for several hours as emergency crews dealt with the scene.
