RCMP make seven arrests for impaired driving this week

January 31, 2024, Charlottetown. RCMP across the Island have made seven arrests for impaired driving this week.

In the last seven days RCMP across PEI have made seven arrests for alcohol impaired driving in communities across the island including:

  1. January 27, at 6:40 p.m., New Perth, PEI RCMP responded to a vehicle in the ditch a 44-year-old woman was arrested.
  2. January 27, at 7:40 p.m., Alexandra, PEI RCMP responded to a vehicle in the ditch a 65-year-old man was arrested and gave breath samples that were three times the legal limit.
  3. January 28, at 12:20 a.m., Montague, PEI RCMP conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old woman.
  4. January 28, at 4:00 a.m., St Louis, PEI RCMP conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a youth.
  5. January 29, a t4:25 p.m., Coleman, PEI RCMP received a complaint and located a 20-year-old man who was arrested for impaired driving. He provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit.
  6. January 30, at 4:00 p.m., Valleyfield, PEI RCMP were conducting a checkpoint which resulted in the arrest of a 68-year-old man for impaired driving.
  7. January 30, at 7:35 p.m., Cardross, PEI RCMP responded to a car in the ditch which resulted in the arrest of a 59-year-old man who provided breath samples that were twice the limit.

Note that there were no injuries reported as a result of these incident. All seven accused are expected in court at a later date.

RCMP laid charges in approximatly 230 impaired driving investigations last year.
