Selkirk RCMP arrest four for robbery

On May 11, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm, Selkirk RCMP received a call for a robbery at a retail store on Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk. It was reported that a Loss Prevention Officer had been threatened with a knife before the suspects fled in a black SUV, leaving carts full of merchandise behind.

Officers attended immediately, and located the black SUV at the intersection of Manitoba Avenue and Highway 9. A traffic stop was initiated.

The 66-year-old female driver from Steinbach was found to have a warrant for her arrest for Theft Under $5000. The female front-seat passenger, a 51-year-old from Bloodvein First Nation, was found to have a warrant for her arrest for Taking Motor Vehicle Without Consent. The rear female passenger, Maureen Young, 31, from Winnipeg, was identified as the individual who had wielded the knife. All three females, as well as a 43-year-old male rear passenger, were taken into custody for separate multiple offences and active warrants.

Young is charged with Fail to Comply with Release Order Condition, Possess Property Obtained by Crime, Robbery with Other Offensive Weapon, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. She was remanded into custody.

The male is charged with Theft Under or Equal to $5000-Shoplifting. He, along with the other two females in the vehicle, were released with court dates.

The Loss Prevention Officer was not physically injured.
