NT RCMP execute search warrant in Yellowknife

A search warrant was executed in Yellowknife NT on the evening of May 21, 2020 as part of an ongoing investigation being conducted by the NT RCMP Federal Investigations Unit.

The search warrant was authorized pursuant to Section 487 of the Criminal Code, and was executed at a residence on Bigelow Crescent.

A risk assessment was conducted and the NT RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted in the execution of the warrant, along with resources from Yellowknife Detachment. A male adult was located inside the home, and a female adult was arrested outside the home a short time later. Both arrests occurred without incident.

Inside the home, police seized a significant quantity of unknown white powder, as well as paraphernalia commonly associated with cocaine trafficking - including scales, baggies, and a cutting agent. Ammunition believed to be for a handgun was also located. The unknown powder will be sent for further analysis.

The two adults will be released from custody, with no charges at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
