Port Saunders RCMP responds to report of impaired driver; one woman is arrested

A 19-year-old Hawkes Bay woman was arrested by Port Saunders RCMP on June 14, 2020, following a report of a suspected impaired driver.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Port Saunders RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Route 430 near the community of Port Saunders.

Police located the described car, conducted a traffic stop in Port Saunders and suspected the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver failed roadside sobriety testing and was arrested for drug impaired driving. Police obtained a blood sample from the driver at the local hospital, which will be sent for analysis to determine if charges of drug impaired driving are appropriate.

The investigation is continuing.
