The driver, a 29-year-old Alberta man, was determined to be driving without a licence and was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle with a suspended licence.
The next day, August 16, 2020, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Traffic Services West clocked a vehicle on radar travelling 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone north of Wiltondale in Gros Morne National Park. The driver, a 38-year-old Anchor Point man, was issued a speeding ticket and a seven-day licence suspension.
Later the same day, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Traffic Services West clocked a vehicle travelling 144 km/h in an 80 km/h zone in the South East Hills area in the National Park. The driver, a 56-year-old resident of Norris Point was issued a speeding ticket and a seven-day licence suspension.
Traffic Services West remind drivers there is no excuse for travelling at such high speeds putting other drivers, pedestrians, and wildlife at risk in a National Park or on our highways. Speeding is a personal choice. Don't make it yours!
