One girl arrested following altercation involving knife outside school

A teenaged girl has been arrested following an altercation outside a school in Oromocto, N.B.

On November 23, 2021, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Oromocto RCMP detachment responded to a report of an altercation involving a knife, in a field, just outside of Oromocto High School. The altercation ended before police arrived on scene. Three girls at the scene had minor injuries, and were assessed by medical staff at the scene before being released to return home. Videos of the incident were obtained by police to assist with the investigation.

On November 24, one of the girls involved, was arrested in connection with the investigation into the incident. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in Fredericton Provincial Court at a later date.

"At this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident," says Sgt. Jean-François Martel of the Oromocto RCMP Detachment. "We are working with school staff, and we are asking anyone with information about what happened to contact police or Crime Stoppers."

The investigation into the incident is on-going.
