News release

Edmonton, Alta. – The Alberta RCMP Recruiting Unit puts candidates first by creating space in policing for visible minorities with an upcoming virtual career event.

Community members from all backgrounds are invited to join the Alberta RCMP for a virtual career talk on November 29, 2023 that will showcase the diverse members who make up the RCMP.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with current frontline members of equity seeking communities. Plus, they'll learn about the application process for becoming an RCMP police officer, and how to prepare for each stage of the journey.

Recruiting for the future is at the forefront of Alberta RCMP's efforts to create a more agile workforce. High levels of representation make us more knowledgeable, effective, and connected to the communities we serve. By bringing unique backgrounds and experiences to the discussion, we aim to help all candidates feel confident and welcome in the hiring process.

"A diverse police force fosters trust, cooperation, and an improved ability to address the needs of all Albertans, which is why we encourage people of all backgrounds to apply" said Staff Sargeant Shawn Boutin of Alberta RCMP Recruiting.

To register for the event, email RCMP.KRecruiting-KRecrutement.GRC@rcmp-grc.gc.ca with your contact information and the event you'd like to attend. The event will take place on Microsoft Teams.
