Impaired drivers arrested in Nain and North River by RCMP NL

Two individuals were arrested this past Friday, January 27, 2023, for impaired driving in the communities of Nain and North River.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., Nain RCMP received a report of a suspected impaired driver operating a snowmobile. Officers located the described snowmobile and conducted a traffic stop. The operator, a 30-year-old woman, failed a roadside breath test and following her arrest provided breath samples back at the detachment that were more than twice the legal limit.

Shortly before midnight, Bay Roberts RCMP stopped a vehicle in North River, suspecting that the driver may be impaired. The driver, a 57-year-old woman, showed signs of impairment and was arrested. At the detachment, she provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit.

Both women were released from custody and will attend court at later dates to face charges of impaired driving.
