Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

Following an investigation that began in the middle of December, 2022, charges have been laid by the RCMP East District General Investigation Section (GIS) against 43-year-old Lisa Strickland.

Strickland, who is a suspended Licensed Practical Nurse from another province, allegedly obtained and used the identity and credentials of a registered nurse from this province to gain employment. The victim of the identity theft was unaware that this had occurred. Prior to being discovered, Strickland worked for six weeks at a long-term care facility in Gander during the fall of 2022.

During her employment, a quantity of prescription medications were stolen from residents of the home. The investigation revealed evidence to support charges of theft against Strickland.

Strickland, who is set to attend court in Gander on March 28, 2023, is charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Identity fraud
  • Theft under $5000.00

RCMP East District GIS thanks the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador for their cooperation during the police investigation.
