Wood Buffalo RCMP execute search warrant, seize drugs and cash

On Nov. 17, 2023, Wood Buffalo RCMP Drug Section, with assistance from the Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Timberlea area following an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine.

As a result of the search located on Sparrow Hawk Green, 60.49 grams of suspected cocaine was located. This carries a street value of $8,300. Additionally, a substantial amount of Canadian currency and other drug paraphernalia were located.

At the time of the search warrant, a 40-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, was arrested and is facing criminal charges including:

• Two counts Trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The individual, who cannot be named until an Information has been sworn, was released from police custody on an Appearance Notice. He is set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice – Fort McMurray on Dec. 12, 2023.

An additional suspect, a 29-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, has also been identified as part of this investigation. He also cannot be named until an Information has been sworn. RCMP are applying to obtain a warrant for his arrest.
