Four individuals charged following home invasion

A 32-year-old man, a 48-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, and a 29-year-old woman, all from Moncton, N.B., have been charged following a home invasion and assault in the community.

On February 10, 2024, at approximately 1:55 p.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion on Mountain Road, in Moncton. A number of individuals had broken into the home of an elderly man, and assaulted him with an axe. They then fled the scene in a white car. One of the responding officers saw the car leaving and began to follow it. The officer attempted to pull the car over but the vehicle fled. The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police pursued the car for a short time until it collided with a second vehicle. The four suspects then attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended a short time later with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services.

On February 11, Steven Fenwick Vanbuskirk, Richard Vosburgh, Jessica Power, and Luc Anthime Jean appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and were charged with aggravated assault. They were remanded into custody.

On February 14, the following additional charges were laid against all four individuals:

  • Break and enter into a dwelling house and committing an indictable offence of aggravated assault
  • Aggravated assault
  • Unlawful confinement

Jessica Power was also charged with obstruction, and Richard Vosburgh was also charged with obstruction, intent to commit an indictable offence, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while impaired by drugs.

All four individuals remain in custody, and are scheduled to return to court on February 22 at 1:30 p.m. for their bail hearings.

The investigation is ongoing.
