Student feedback
All instructors must meet and maintain certain service standards and quality of instruction. To provide feedback to the Canadian Firearms Program about your training experience, send an email to CFO_Program-Programme_CAF@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. This helps us monitor and improve how firearms safety training is provided.
Canadian Firearms Safety Course
First-time licence applicants must pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course before applying for a Possession and Acquisition Licence. After the in-class instruction, you will do a written and practical test.
Anyone 12 years or older can take the CFSC. Children under 12 can take the course, but only for educational purposes. They will not do the written or practical exams. To get a Minor's Licence to borrow and use non-restricted firearms, the minor must be between 12 and 17 years old.

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course
Anyone wanting to acquire restricted firearms must also take the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course and pass the written and practical tests.
